Comfort Salon Foundation was founded by Debbie Glazer in 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.  She attended the Michigan College of Beauty in Troy, Michigan, where she obtained her Nail Technician education. Debbie has an extensive nursing career.  Her experience ranges from being a hospice/oncology nurse, orthopedic nurse, as well as medical/surgical adjunct nursing faculty for a local college nursing program.

In 2014, Debbie officially began combining her two passions and started providing nail services for clients who were undergoing cancer treatments, recovering from surgery, and under palliative or hospice care.  Her first client was a woman suffering from end stage lung disease after she rejected a successful bone marrow transplant a few years prior. From that point on, she took care of seniors with limited mobility, those with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as clients with brain and pancreatic cancer.

Providing comfort through manicures and pedicures was both a personally and professionally rewarding experience.  Debbie has worked as a licensed nail technician in the salon environment, too.  Additionally, she helped create a salon enrichment program for Jewish Hospice and Chaplaincy Network in 2016 and founded Comfort Salon Services in spring 2018.  Comfort Salon Services provides in home salon services to clients that are unable to come to the salon due to their physical and/or medical limitations.

Comfort Salon Foundation was formed on the premise of using salon services to enhance quality of life and provide comfort to those who are suffering from debilitating and devastating diseases. The Foundation will provide beauty services found at the salon to its clients free of charge whether in their home or in the hospital. We hope to provide happiness and comfort to clients who are battling their illness. And, help them feel a little more like themselves, or like their inner prince or princess.
